Porto’s light rail and last word before returning to Britain

I have never been to a city which had such an extensive light rail system. There has been a huge investment in this infrastructure. As previously mentioned I managed to get an Andante card for 15 Euros at the airport (you have to go to the tourist office on the departure level).

During these two days before I return to the UK for my sister and brother in laws funeral on Friday I have been greatly helped by Rick Steves Portugal guide.

This may be my last post before two funeral services - the first for just the family where I will give the eulogy, which I have been revising daily, and then there is a public celebration at the same church the next day which is intended to be a celebration of their lives.

Here is a picture of the light rail cars.

This was my first ever visit to Portugal. The Portuguese are amazingly friendly and helpful.

I have not had time to think about their progressive policies in harm reduction - how they deal with addictions. It is a model public health people throughout the world would like to copy.

Porto has a lot of history that one could only touch on in two days. As in the past it is most helpful to pick a VRBO or AirBnb close to the middle of the city so that one can walk everywhere or take public transit.

There are thousands of tourists so the best time of day to see things is when everything opens about 10 am.
